For our writing 205 final we compiled our previous unit projects to create a podcast that focuses on how different uses of technology can be beneficial in the classroom. We each used our specialized interests in the area that we focused on in the earlier units. Naomi's project was centered around the ways in which technology can help create more inclusive classrooms for students with disabilities. She found that there are schools that are implementing assistive technology into the classroom, but it comes at a high cost that many urban schools can not afford. Sophie focussed on the ways in which technology use in the classroom can affect students long term. This means how this generation is keeping afloat in the workforce once they are graduated. Kelly’s project was centered around technology, social media, and journalism. Her research explored how technology is affecting journalism, in ways of accessing, how often people can watch or read the news, and all the different media types that are implemented in society. Her project also dives into how social media is creating a new type of journalism called ‘alternate journalism’, where the average person can put news out into the world that is not being covered on major new resources, that accounts for personal anecdotes and helps give life to social movements.
